When I first started homeschooling, my approach was all about achievment, goal and action. I had hundreds of pages printed out with activities for the kids to complete, and the weekly curriculum was full of projects and things to do. Needless to say after a couple of weeks I was frustrated and one of the boys was going into boycott.
As I took a step back to overview the situation, I was baffeled to learn, that I never analysed the children's faces for clues about how to approach them in a academical way.
With facial analysis the general rule exists, that a person has to be at least 18 years old to get an accurate reading. The reason behind this is the everchanging facial structure of a still growing child and adolesence. A facial analysis of a eight year old girl has a good chance to be obsolete when she is thirteen.
However keeping those reasons in mind a facial analsis of a child could come in handy in deciding what is best for the child right now. It could be helpful to discover what the base characteristics are of the child, and to find a deeper understanding.
The Three Main Naturells:
In physiognomy we recognize three main constitutions of people; the Nourishing Naturell, the Dynamic Naturell and the Perceptive Naturell.
Each one of those Naturells has a different physical build up, characteristics and needs.
A child with the constitution of a Nourishing Naturell has a soft round face, full lips, dreamy eyes, thick hair and well build ears. A child in the Nourishing Naturell radiates calmness and wants time to think about subjects. It also loves to collect stuff and like to organize.
A child with the constitution of a Dynamic Naturell has a more rectangular face, chiseled lips, passionate expression in their eyes, strong hair and rectangular and strong ears. This child radiates action and has a need to jump and run around, difficulties in staying still for a prolonged time. It needs to be physically active, otherwise it will climb the walls.
A child with the constitution of a Perception Naturell has oval face shape with the forehead being wider than the chin. The lips are delicate and beautifully shaped, the eyes are big, the hair is silky and fine and the ears are of delicate build. It is very artistic and sensitive and shows a love for beauty. This child needs time with figuring out feelings and gentle guidance.
Just those fundamentals of facial analysis reveal a lot about a person. And eventhough a child's face can change from a Perception Naturell into a Nourishing Naturell over the years it is helpful to know what the basic constituition is right now.
It made me aware that in homeschooling my children I have to teach a Dynamic Naturel and a Nourishing Naturell. I know now that my dynamic child needs breaks, where he is able to run around, go swimming, or just plain jump on the bed, in between sit down activities; and my nourishing child needs more coaxing into working on subjects and simple organized instructions.
Of course, figuring out the Naturell of a child does not serve as a sole guidance. For a more detailed analysis the whole face has to be taken into consideration.
